Neodymium Magnets:

The World's Strongest Permanent Magnets

Discover the unparalleled power of neodymium magnets, the strongest and most widely used type of rare earth magnet available today. Also known as NdFeB, NIB, or Neo magnets, these powerful permanent magnets are made from an alloy of neodymium, iron, and boron, engineered to deliver exceptional magnetic strength in a compact size. Their incredible performance-to-cost ratio makes them the preferred choice for a vast range of applications, from high-tech industrial manufacturing and renewable energy to creative DIY projects and everyday use.

Whether you are an engineer designing the next generation of electric motors, a hobbyist building intricate models, or looking for a powerful fastening solution, you will find the perfect magnet for your project here.

Why Choose Neodymium Magnets?

Neodymium magnets offer a superior combination of strength, performance, and value that is unmatched by other magnetic materials like ferrite or alnico magnets.

Unmatched Strength for Their Size

Neodymium magnets are the most powerful permanent magnets commercially available. A small neodymium disc can have the same holding power as a much larger ceramic magnet, allowing for the miniaturization of designs and applications where space and weight is critical.

High Performance and Durability

With high resistance to demagnetization (coercivity) and the ability to retain their magnetic field over long periods, these magnets provide reliable and consistent performance. When handled correctly, they will lose less than 1% of their strength over a decade.

Versatility Across All Industries

The unique properties of neodymium magnets make them essential components in thousands of modern applications. They are found in everything from computer hard drives and audio equipment to MRI scanners and the electric motors that power EVs and wind turbines.

Selecting the Right Neodymium Magnet for Your Application

Choosing the correct magnet is crucial for your project's success. Understanding the key specifications will help you make an informed decision.

Magnet Grades (Strength)

Neodymium magnets are graded by the maximum strength they can be magnetized to, indicated by a number following the letter "N" (for Neodymium). This number represents the Maximum Energy Product in Mega Gauss Oersted (MGOe).

  • Common Grades: We stock a wide range of grades, including the popular N35, N42, N48, N52, and N55.
  • Strength vs. Brittleness: A higher-grade number means a stronger magnet. For example, an N52 magnet is significantly stronger than an N42 magnet of the same size. However, higher-grade magnets also tend to be more brittle and require careful handling. Grade N42 is often considered the most common choice, offering an excellent balance of strength and cost.

Temperature Ratings

Standard neodymium magnets have a maximum operating temperature of 80°C (176°F). For applications in hotter environments, high-temperature magnets are available, indicated by a letter suffix after the grade.

M: Up to $100^{\circ}C$ ($212^{\circ}F$) H: Up to $120^{\circ}C$ ($248^{\circ}F$) SH: Up to $150^{\circ}C$ ($302^{\circ}F$) UH: Up to $180^{\circ}C$ ($356^{\circ}F$) EH: Up to $200^{\circ}C$ ($392^{\circ}F$) AH: Up to $230^{\circ}C$ ($446^{\circ}F$)

Exceeding the maximum operating temperature will cause the magnet to permanently lose a portion of its strength.

Shapes, Sizes, and Form Factors

We offer a vast inventory of neodymium magnets for sale in nearly every shape and size to meet your needs.

  • Standard Shapes: Our selection includes disc magnets, block magnets, ring magnets, cylinder magnets, and sphere magnets.
  • Specialized Mounts: For easy integration, we also provide magnets with built-in features, such as countersunk magnets for screw mounting, adhesive magnets with pre-applied 3M backing, and powerful assemblies like pot magnets, hook magnets, and channel magnets.

Protective Coatings

Due to their high iron content, neodymium magnets are prone to corrosion and rust in humid environments. A protective coating is essential for longevity.

  • Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni): The most common and cost-effective coating, providing excellent corrosion resistance for most indoor applications with a shiny, metallic finish.
  • Copper (Cu): Primarily used for decorative purposes, this coating has a shiny brown-red-gold color. It offers less corrosion protection than nickel and can rub off over time with frequent use.
  • Zinc (Zn): A cost-effective coating with a dull, matte finish that provides good corrosion resistance for indoor applications or those with occasional moisture exposure.
  • Black Zinc: Offers similar protection to standard zinc but is chosen for aesthetic reasons, such as reducing glare or for color-coding parts.

Pinching Hazard: The strong attractive force can cause severe pinching injuries. Always wear protective gloves when handling larger magnets.

Brittle Material: Magnets can chip or shatter if allowed to slam together, sending sharp fragments flying. Eye protection is recommended.

Electronics and Medical Devices: Keep a safe distance from pacemakers, credit cards, computer monitors, and other sensitive electronics.

Keep Away From Children: Neodymium magnets are not toys. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can cause serious and life-threatening internal injuries.
